Jill Biden and Artwork by Brian McClean at Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I find it important to continue to advocate and bring awareness to it, as many people may be suffering in silence or do not know there is help.

Recently, First Lady Jill Biden visited the Steven A. Cohen Veterans Clinic in Oceanside recently I happen to work with them and provided artwork that can be seen in the background during their roundtable discussions.

Veterans are particularly at high risk for suicide, but face other challenges when returning back to civilian life, let alone what may have happened on Active Duty. I use artwork to help, inspire and bring purpose.

The woman speaking here was very courageous and honest about her own struggles and thoughts of suicide.

Thank you to the staff at the Veterans Clinic for working with me and bringing awareness, as well as the First Lady for making the stop here in San Diego, which has a very high veteran and active duty population. I am also grateful to have my artwork displayed on both sides of the room during this panel. The fight continues...
