Memorial Day 2022. A Day of Remembrance

Although Memorial Day is a time of celebration, fun, travel, and long weekends for some, it can be a rather difficult, emotional, and tumultuous day for others. Some also have to work during this day, as I used to when I was a part of the Honor Guard and attached a few pictures. We must not forget about those who paid the ultimate price for freedom, and that is with their lives.

"This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn't come home. This is not Veterans Day, it's not a celebration. it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom." - Tamra Bolton

I have attended hundreds of funerals, but the duty was necessary and one that I can look back on with pride. Many soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen survive the wars, the long duty hours, and the difficulties that come with being in service. Unfortunately, many either suffer or take their lives upon ending service or returning home. We have a crisis amongst our servicemen and women when it comes to suicide rates. An alarming 22 veterans take their lives each day.

Let's remember those who didn't have the help, strength, hope, or tools needed to press on. We must NEVER forget those who sacrificed so that we can be free. Let us remember on this  Memorial Day, 2022... - Brian
